In search of the perfect blog

The other day I was bored with my google reader, so I started looking around for new blogs to read (don’t underestimate how much time I can waste since graduating).  I looked around for quite a while, but I couldn’t find the blog I wanted.

First, I looked at mormon mommy blogs, in the crafts/hobbies section.  Because the blog I want will have plenty of crafty discussions and pictures.  But all the crafts were too cutsy, or too simple, or just not what I was looking for.  Lots of scrapbooking and tiny sewing projects, but nothing beyond that.  When I say crafts I guess I really mean old-fashioned womanly arts like sewing.  So then I started looking for a sewing blog, but the problem with sewing blogs is that the bloggers don’t make clothes that I like.  It’s all knits and serged seams and modern.  Hand sewing is “becky home-ecky”.  I say, what’s the point of making a t-shirt -which you could buy at any store any time- when you could be making a beautiful dress that is one of a kind?  And what, exactly, is wrong with hand sewing, may I ask???  Sometimes it is essential to make a garment look right.  An invisible hem stitch looks a heck of a lot more professional on a skirt hem than anything a machine could do.

Also most of the sewing bloggers don’t take pictures of their kids, or homes, or anything fun like that.  They don’t decorate, or talk about homemaking, or cooking, or thrifts store finds, for example.

What I’m saying is, as I was searching in vain for the perfect blog, I developed a list of what I wanted in said blog.

-lots of sewing, mostly old-fashioned dresses
-lots of other crafts too
-babies and kids
-inspiration to be frugal and not wasteful
-a beautiful home, decorated frugally
-frequent decorating projects
-an obvious love of nature
-cooking inspiration
-homemaking and cleaning inspiration
-tons of pictures of it all
-frequent posts
-religious, preferably Mormon

So of course with such a long list of requirements I haven’t found the perfect blog yet.  If I could combine these my favorite blogs into one blog, it would be perfect:

http://www.soulemama.typepad.com/

http://pleasantviewschoolhouse.blogspot.com/

http://eyesofwonder.typepad.com/my_weblog/

p.s. stay tuned for my first every baby belly picture!

Awfully interesting — oh, and out of it all you now p’raps know more clearly what *your* blog will strive to be.

Sometimes I feel it is not fair having to look around the whole world and not find — something or someone — that is a certain kind of admirable. I *do know* that I ought just work hard to make *myself* that something or someone. But sometimes it feels hard and not fair.
