For a first project I would suggest doing a skirt from a pattern that says "easy" or "quick". Most skirts are pretty simple, and great for beginners. Be sure to get a pattern that you actually like, and awesome fabric! That will make it more fun. If you buy a pattern, look for "Simplicity New Look," they are always $4, and have lots of neat styles, while most patterns are $12 or more. I got a sewing machine for a high school graduation present but I havent really had time to use it, until this summer when I really want to start making some clothes! I had had a lot of people mention that the first year was really hard, and a big adjustment, but I really enjoyed my first year in marriage to Avram (and subsequent years of course). Of course, we hard a hard dating and engagement period, so after that actually being committed to each other and on the same continent seemed like a breeze of a relationship. (My fault on both points, by the way).
